Snapchat (Family Center) parental controls

Last verified: Oct 14, 2026 ยท official source

Quick answer: do these 2 things
  • Defaults for teens: Minimum age 13. 13โ€“17-year-olds can't change their birthday.
  • Family Center: See who your teen is friends with and has messaged recently, request their location, and view their privacy and safety settings.

๐Ÿ“ฃ Communication controls (start here)

Who can talk to your child is the most important setting. Controls stack in layers: console/device โ†’ platform account โ†’ in-game. Set every layer, because one layer doesn't always control another. Communication Safety Hub โ†’
